Smart Beginnings is an initiative that creates community commitment to the school readiness of young children. We help local communities deliver on ensuring conditions for a strong, healthy start for young children and their families.

Richmond Early Childhood Association (RECA)
RECA provides education and resources to families, early childhood educators and the Greater Richmond community on behalf of young children. RECA hosts training events, director networking events and Week of the Young Child events during the course of the year. RECA produces a newsletter twice a year about what is going on in and around the Richmond area in regards to Early Childhood Education.

The Partnership for Families
The Partnership for Families is an umbrella organization of over two dozen established non-profits working together to help Richmond parents and caregivers, from all walks of life, flourish, to better prepare their children for success in kindergarten, and beyond.

ChildSavers, formerly Memorial Child Guidance Clinic, was founded in 1924. They believe all children have the right to be safe, healthy, happy and ready to learn. They provide trauma response, mental health counseling and early childhood development services so that children have a chance to reach their potential and thrive.
Child Development Services focuses on the needs of teachers, professional child care providers and others who care for and educate children. They offer a broad range of services aimed at helping families and caregivers provide the best possible care to their children.
ChildSavers’ Child Development Services programs include:
Child Care Aware of Central Virginia, ChildSavers Child Development Workshops, Child Development Associate Certificate Program (CDA), Voluntary Registration, Virginia Star Quality Initiative (VSQI). And the USDA Child Care Food Program.
